While waiting for Monday's post, I have a question about Daylight Savings Time. If something happens one minute before we spring forward and then one minute after the time change you want to talk about that event, do you say it happened "over an hour ago" or "just a few minutes ago"? I also wonder if it really reduces our energy consumption to change times, but that's a question for another kind of blog.

Well I was wondering a similar question yesterday. I was watching an eBay auction last night that was ending today and it said "22 hours left" but I couldn't figure out exactly what time that would be. Is it 22 hours from NOW (i.e. yesterday), or 22 hours minus 1 hour? Such unnecessary confusion.

No confusion - it's all just an arbitrary human fabrication. Don't let it bother you. A time interval is a time interval, regardless of who fiddles with the clock setting.
It probably does save energy, but more importantly, it saves more daylight for going to the beach and playing tennis after work (very few courts have really good lights in my humble experience).
*moves the offensive Mr BumCrack closer to being scrolled off the bottom of the list, hopefully*
