I know cognitivists are always searching the for inner causes of things, but couldn't one just easily turn it around and say "The first product of language was consciousness! In this way consciousness came into being." Either way, we have to ask "But what empirical evidence do you have for your claim?

BLOGGER: I'm never clear on the distinction between awareness and consciousness. Speakers seem to suggest that consciousness is a kind of Awareness 2.0, but I'm never sure about what new features they claim.
