A nit-pick, nothing to do with the argument in hand. The second sentence that can't be said as quickly as the first (What man can stand tan pants?) owes this slowing not to the vowel content but to the double consonants needing to be pronounced between each vowel in the second, rather than the easy single ones in the first.
